COVID19 Vaccination Programme

When will a vaccine be available?

We are delighted to be able to offer all patients over the age of 12 the coronavirus vaccination which should give you protection from Coronavirus.

We are now working on the booster programme, however if you have not had your 1st vaccine or waiting over 8 weeks for your 2nd vaccine invite, please ring the surgery or call 119 to arrange an appointment.

Supplies of the vaccine are limited; therefore it is crucial that you attend your appointment.

For information for patients attending the practice for the COVID vaccine please see here.

Who will get a vaccine?

The vaccine has been offered to those at greatest risk from Covid19 - all our patients have been invited. Our invites have been sent out based on the guidance from the Joint Committee for Vaccinations and Immunisations which is available here

We are now on the spring booster programme for the following groups of patients;

- Healthy over 75 = 6 months from the last vaccine
- Care homes = 3 months from the last vaccine
- Housebound = 3 months from the last vaccine
- 12+ with a weakened immune system = 3 months from the last vaccine

We are also offering the 1st or 2nd vaccine for patients 5 years and older.  Please watch out for your invite and book yourself in whilst appointments are available as stock is in limited supply.

If you are over 12 years and have not had your 1st or 2nd vaccine and would like to have it, please contact the surgery asap.

Where can I get a vaccine?

Arrangements have been put in place to offer vaccines from a number of different locations as more supplies become available. We are able to offer the vaccine at Bankfield Surgery, we will text/call you to invite you to our clinic when it is your turn.

Further information

We will share further information with you as it becomes available. In the meantime, there are three things people can do to help:

  • Please don’t contact the NHS to seek a booster - we will contact you it’s the right time to you to have yours
  • Please act on your invite when it comes, and make sure you attend your appointments when you arrange them;
  • Please continue to abide by all the social distancing and hand hygiene guidance, which will still save lives
